Mazda is all set to preview a number of concept cars at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show including the next-generation 2018 Mazda 3.
The 2018 Mazda 3 concept (unofficial name) will be a small city hatchback offering “next-generation technology and design”. It will feature the SKYACTIV-vehicle architecture and will be the first gasoline powered car to use compression ignition. With this technology, the 2018 Mazda 3 will be 20 to 30 percent more economical and will deliver up to 30 percent more torque compared to the current Mazda’s gasoline powered cars.
As for the design, the Mazda 3 will adopt the ‘Kodo design language’, and will notably be different from the current Mazda 3 in the market.
The automaker will also display the Mazda CX-8 – a three-row crossover SUV – at the show. The CX-8 will house an upgraded SKYACTIV-D 2.2 diesel engine with improved torque and performance. Moreover, it will also feature improvements in styling and interior comfort. The new CX-8 will go on sale in Japan by the end of this year.
Also on display will be the special edition Mazda Roadster (MX-5) with a sexy cherry red canopy and luxurious leather upholstery.
