2022 Mazda CX-5 Gets New Sub-model Hierarchy, Standard All-Wheel-Drive

The Japanese automaker introduced the 2022 Mazda CX-5 earlier this year with very few details. Now, the company has revealed the pricing and model hierarchy.

The new CX-5 will cost $530 extra than the last year’s entry-level model. It means it will sell for $27,125 with the $1,225 destination charge. However, unlike the entry-level frontwheel drive model, all the trim levels in the 2022 Mazda CX-5 will come equipped with an all-wheel-drive configuration.

A quick comparison reveals that the new CX-5 is actually more affordable than the last year’s model. In fact, all the new trim levels are about $50 to $500 less except the Signature that goes for around $1,000 more.

Below is a table to see the new pricing details:

2022 CX-5 Trim Level

Price (including $1,225 destination fee)

CX-5 2.5 S

$27,125

CX-5 2.5 Select

$29,125

CX-5 2.5 Preferred

$30,385

CX-5 2.5 Carbon Edition

$31,505

CX-5 2.5 Premium

$33,535

CX-5 2.5 Premium Plus

$35,175

CX-5 2.5 Turbo

$37,625

CX-5 2.5 Turbo Signature

Apart from the new sub-model hierarchy, buyers choosing the turbo engine will get an extra punch. The improved 2.5-litre mill pumps out 256 horsepower (191 kilowatts) – a boost of 6 hp with higher-octane premium fuel. Torque number remains the same and the naturally aspirated mill also produces the same 187 hp (139 kW) as before.
