One of the best-selling SUVs in North America has just entered its sixth generation and boy it looks rugged, sporty, and glamorous. The 2023 Honda CR-V gets bigger and better and adds a new Sport Touring Hybrid trim.
Exterior
Regarding the exterior, we already saw it in May when China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released some of the CR-V’s images. The official images emphasize the bigger mesh grille, making it appear rugged, much like the Ridgeline truck. The slimmer headlights further highlight the grille’s size, with expensive Sport and Sport Touring trims receiving more assertive front and rear design elements.
Besides updating the body panels for a more aggressive look, the 2023 CR-V is 2.7 inches longer and almost a half-inch wider than the outgoing model. The wheelbase is stretched by 1.6 inches, which isn’t substantial but overall dimensions make it the biggest CR-V of all time.
The stretched size allows both the passengers and the boot to enjoy more space. Honda claims 26.3 cubic feet of cargo room in the rear and 76.5 cubic feet by folding the rear seats.
Interior
Similar to its exterior, we have already seen the interior images, which look much familiar. Yes, you guessed it right; most of the elements come from the Civic and adorn the new CR-V with a 7.0 inches display in the middle and a 7.0 inches digital instrument panel in front of the driver. The high-spec trim levels get a bigger 9.0 inches infotainment display. Additionally, the seats sport black cloth upholstery, with leather an optional feature. Honda claims the new CR-V has the roomiest center console in its segment.
Technology
Honda has packed the 2023 CR-V with all the required tech features you would expect in a modern SUV. Starting with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for entertainment, your drives are safe with Honda Sensing Suite of driver assistance and safety features.
The new for the 2023 model year is a wide-angle camera with a 90-degree field of view, and a radar system with 120 degrees viewing capability. Besides, blind-spot monitoring is standard, and Honda’s Traffic Jam Assist with low-speed braking and sign recognition are optional. For those looking to go offroad would appreciate the upgraded Honda’s Real Time AWD system that adapts to various driving conditions. The hill descent control is a new available feature for the CR-V.
Powertrains
Honda will offer the CR-V in four variants, with the base EX and EX-L using a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder mill creating 190 horsepower (142 kilowatts). Sport and Sport Touring get a modified 2.0-litre four-cylinder hybrid powertrain churning out 204 horsepower, which is 8 hp less than before. However, the maximum 247 pound-feet (335 kilowatts) of torque is higher than before.
Price
The Japanese company didn’t declare the prices of the new CR-V. However, the 2022 CR-V starts at AED 94,900 in the UAE. The new model will likely be more expensive than this and should hit the roads this summer. However, Sport and Sport Touring hybrids will be accessible at the end of the year.
