Porsche introduced the 2024 Panamera sedan on Friday, marking the third generation of the four-door model. The updates include fresh design elements, enhanced engine performance, and improved handling.
Powertrain
The lineup encompasses four E-Hybrid powertrain options, with the formidable Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid leading the pack. Featuring a revamped twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine and an electric motor linked to a 25.9-kilowatt-hour battery, it delivers a combined 670 horsepower and 685 pound-feet of torque. The power is transmitted to all four wheels through an eight-speed PDK transmission, enabling a 0-60 mph acceleration in 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 195 mph.
The Panamera and Panamera 4 feature a 2.9-liter V6 engine with a turbo boost. It delivers increased power, generating 348 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque, a gain of 23 horses and 37 lb-ft, respectively. The V6 enables the base model to accelerate to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds with a top speed of 169 mph. The Panamera 4, equipped with all-wheel drive, achieves the same performance in 4.7 seconds, topping out at 168 mph.
As for the suspension, the Panamera includes a standard two-chamber, two-valve air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management. This system separates compression and rebound control for the dampers, enhancing overall comfort.
The available dynamic enhancement system for E-Hybrid versions of the Panamera offers the ability to maintain a stable body position and counteract pitch and roll motions, providing a unique cornering experience reminiscent of motorcycles. Optionally, the vehicle can be equipped with rear-axle steering.
Design
The latest iteration of the Panamera, now in its third generation, exhibits a visual resemblance to its predecessor, albeit with subtle modifications. An extra air intake is now present above the front license plate, serving the purpose of cooling the upgraded powertrain options. The vehicle showcases altered window lines, and the LED Matrix Design headlights are now included as standard features.
Inside, the Panamera reveals a refreshed central control hub that relocates the gear selector to the right of the steering wheel and onto the dashboard, mimicking the layout found in the brand’s all-electric Taycan. An optional 10.9-inch display for the passenger is now on offer, providing access to the vehicle’s performance metrics, infotainment adjustments, or video streaming.
Porsche sets apart the Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid from the remaining range through a distinct front fascia, a rear diffuser, and tailpipes finished in a deep bronze hue. This variant also showcases the contrasting Turbonite shade on the side air blades, window surrounds, and the “turbo” insignia at the rear. Turbonite is seamlessly integrated throughout the cabin, including the central tachometer within the digital instrument cluster.
Cost And Availability
The 2024 Panamera is currently open for purchase, and the manufacturer anticipates its arrival at dealerships in the spring of 2024. The base price, including a destination charge of $1,650, is set at $101,550. Meanwhile, the Panamera 4 will be available with a starting price of $108,550.
Porsche has plans to disclose the pricing information and arrival schedule for the Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid at a future date. The production of this model will persist at the Leipzig factory.
