While talking to RoadShow, a representative from Audi validated that the company has plans to start production of the Audi A6 e-Tron in 2023. Based on the A6 e-Tron concept unveiled at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, we will be able to see the production prototype at the start of next year.
We also knew from the Audi spokesperson that the Q6 e-Tron would show its face to the public in 2022. It will employ the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) created by Audi and Porsche. The PPE will also underpin the A6 e-Tron.
Regarding the new Audi A6 e-Tron, we believe it will be similar to the concept (see the pictures). It is expected to have a dual electric motor setup creating around 470 horsepower (350 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters) of instant torque, same as the concept.
Audi unveiled the concept, offering about 435 miles (700 kilometres) of range on the WLTP cycle. It had a 100-kWh battery that can replenish itself at up to 270 kW. What it means for Audi is a 186 mi (300 km) range with just 10 minutes of charging. Audi claimed it to get up to 80% juice in fewer than 25 minutes, which is a remarkable feat for any electric vehicle.
The production Audi A6 e-Tron should possess these performance figures, if not better. Stay tuned as we bring you more as the story unfolds.
