The Hummer nameplate made its triumphant return in 2022 with the Hummer EV SUT pickup, and now, it’s time for its sleek SUV sibling, the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV, to take center stage. This electrifying reimagination of a classic American off-roader has generated quite the buzz, with over 90,000 combined reservations split equally between the pickup and SUV.
The moment we’ve all been eagerly awaiting has finally arrived! The sold-out Edition 1 of the electric Hummer SUV has commenced production and is ready to take on the road. When reservations opened in 2021, this beauty had a starting price of $105,595 and quickly sold out. It will be handcrafted alongside the mighty Hummer EV SUT pickup at GM’s state-of-the-art Factory Zero facility in the heart of Detroit-Hamtramck. This beast of an SUV is powered by not one, not two, but a whopping two or three electric motors, ready to unleash a storm of torque and speed.
Get ready to feel the surge of power with the Hummer EV SUVs! The dual-motor setup of the EV2 and EV2X packs a punch, generating an awe-inspiring 625 horsepower. But wait, there’s more! The EV3X and the coveted Edition 1 unleash even more brute force with a tri-motor setup (front and back) boasting a monstrous 830 horsepower. The torque numbers are a tale of two beasts, with GMC claiming 7400 and 11,500 pound-feet, but rumors say the real figures are closer to a thrilling 1000-1100 pound-feet. Edition 1 is a road warrior, boasting a range estimated to be over 300 miles. Car&Driver tested the Hummer EV SUT pickup, where it confidently covered 290 miles on the highway at a steady 75 mph.
The electric Hummer SUV is ready to paint the town green…literally! The sold-out Edition 1 SUV will all be donning the bold and daring Moonshot Green Matte hue. But don’t worry, as production of the standard models ramps up later in the year, the color options will expand with a brand new palette to choose from. GMC has big plans for the Hummer lineup, with production rates expected to soar higher than ever before, starting off slow and steady in the first half of the year before ramping up with full force in the second half.
