Manhart Upgrades Nissan Patrol Nismo, Making It A 650 HP Beast

Nissan introduced the sixth-generation Patrol SUV about 13 years ago, and gladly there is one tuner willing to make it stand out and enhance its looks and power. We are talking about Manhart, who is famous for upgrading BMW cars. Lately, the German tuner has also started to work on other popular models such as the Defender, Audi RS3, and Mercedes-AMG SL. The latest project from the tuner is the Nissan Patrol, and by its looks, you can tell how amped-up it is.

Exterior

For the upgrade, Manhart chose to sport black and gold livery, and if we dig deep, we find it is not a standard Nissan Patrol. It is actually a Nismo model that Nissan unveiled in late 2015 and refreshed it at the start of 2021. The tuner took the 2021 Nismo model, added big 24-inch wheels, and lowered its suspension to give it a sporty look.

Engine

The power comes from the stock 5.6-litre V8, but it has lost its naturally-aspirated ability. The German tuner added a supercharger to the engine to bump up the power to 650 hp and 600 Newton-meters (443 pound-feet) of torque.

For reference, you should know the standard Patrol Nismo churns out 428 hp and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft). The power finds its way to both axles using a seven-speed automatic transmission. To give you a true feel of the engine’s meaty power, the tuner installed a custom exhaust that produces a more assertive sound as you rev up the engine.

Performance

Manhart didn’t reveal how the added power will translate on the road, but we can tell you the performance figures of the standard Patrol Nismo. The high-performance model can accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in only 7.3 seconds. While it doesn’t look extraordinary, we need to keep in mind the bulky size of the SUV, which tips the scale at a massive 2,665 kilograms (5,875 pounds).

Interior

On the inside, we again see the abundant use of black and gold, but other details give a feel of an outdated SUV. The tuner did well to improve the cabin by adding upmarket leather and Alcantara, but you will definitely feel it is old-fashioned if you have been driving the latest generations of full-size utility vehicles.
