Subaru unveiled the sixth-generation Impreza at the 2022 LA Auto Show, exactly three decades after its world premiere in 1992. The automaker has updated its styling and improved its performance, safety, and tech. The Impreza also welcomes a new RS trim level boasting enhanced power and distinct style elements.

The 2024 Impreza will be available in Base, Sport, and RS variants. The first two models carry a 2.0-litre boxer four-cylinder that is good for 152 horsepower (113 kilowatts) and 145 pound-feet (197 Newton-meters) of torque. The new RS employs a 2.5-litre mill pumping out 182 hp (136 kW) and 178 lb-ft (241 Nm).

The all-wheel-drive and CVT are standard for all the trim levels, but the Sport and RS also come with a simulated 8-speed mode with paddle shifters. The AWD has been revised to offer a speedier response. The dual-pinion electronic power steering rack comes to boost responsiveness, especially at turns.

For the sixth generation, the Impreza is only available in a hatchback body style. While the sedan isn’t an option now, the updated styling really gives a sense of modernism. The grille has become a tad bigger, and the headlights look sharper than before. The rear also gets new fork-designed taillights and exhaust tips.

The interior now gives you an option of 11.6-inch portrait-styled infotainment display, supporting wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The standard display is 7.0 inches, though.

Besides the exterior and interior changes, the new Impreza gets updated EyeSight driver assistance technology with a wider field of view, allowing the vehicle to detect bicycles and walkers at junctures. The models equipped with blind-spot detection, lane-keep assist, and rear cross-traffic alert employ an automatic emergency steering system.

The RS is the sporty version that takes its name from the 2.5 RS of 1998. It has dark elements on the grille, side sills, mirror caps, and wheels. The LED headlights, fog lights, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, aluminum alloy pedals, heated front seats, and rear USB charge ports are standard for the RS. Furthermore, the Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert along with a Harman Kardon® 10-speaker system, Power Moonroof, and 10-way power front driver seat with lumbar support are also part of the package.

The 2024 Impreza will be available in America next spring. We do not know when it will hit the roads in the UAE. Stay tuned for the updates on the new Impreza.
