The world will soon see a supercar from Switzerland. It will be the first from the land of mountains, created by Picasso Automotive. Stefano Picasso, the founder of the company, revealed in January 2021 that their engineers are at work to create a supercar, named Picasso PS-01. They wanted to build a supercar that uses lots of carbon fibre. Fast forward today, and the company is ready to show the production version of its first crazy creation.
Picasso Automotive has revealed this plan in a press release, where they told the world that they will bring the car to the Top Marques Monaco in June. June 8 will be the day when Picasso will disclose all the technical details of the supercar. We will also get the supercar’s real name since the PS-01 is just an internal codename for the car.
Things we know so far, the Picasso Automotive supercar will weigh around 2,200 pounds (1,000 kilograms). The low weight has been possible with the extensive use of carbon fibre. We also know that the car will create around 900 kg of downforce during its quickest run. The innovative aerodynamics will enable the supercar to stay stable at full throttle. While the automaker did not tell the top speed and acceleration times, they mentioned that it will be very fast both on tracks and on the street, offering an unrivaled driving experience.
Like many other details, the Swiss company also hides information about the powerplant. When the automaker first revealed it, they said they will borrow the engine from “one of the most famous Italian cars.” During that time, we guessed it to own a twin-turbo V6 generating around 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts). However, we can now confirm, that it will have a “completely different” powertrain. We cannot exactly tell what it could be; the automaker said it is “specifically conceived to deliver the best union of performance and functionality.”
Since creating a supercar isn’t an easy feat, especially for a new company, Picasso Automotive relied on various partnerships to create this superfast machine. For instance, they chose Sadev for the transmission, Sabelt for the seats, Ohlins for the suspension, and the Carbo Brake for the braking system. The Swiss automaker says it has backing from a foreign investor and they have already secured a few orders for its first production supercar.
Will it be worth your money, only the time will tell? The supercar has a long way to go. After showing the production version, the car won’t be able to materialize until 2023. We can tell about its performance and driveability after a test drive only.
